Beginners Tutorial: How to Draw a Human Body

On this short article I'm going to share with you the most amazing things I've learned from this video tutorial. 

About the Author of this vblog 

Ferdz is a close friend of mine who I met back in 2013 in Singapore from a bible study group. He's an amazing and encouraging friend and a brother. He and his family lives happily in Singapore. An architect by profession working in an Architectural Company with a vast years of experience in the same field. He's my prayer partner with a fantastic talent in the field of art, in the architecture and best of all he has a gift of Leadership.

Recollecting my drawing skills.

When I was around 6 years old my school sent me into a drawing competition. More like a draw and tell contest. That was a contest that encourage kids of my age to enhance the kid's visual and verbal story telling skills. I could still remember how my drawing looks like. I wish I still have the original drawing so I can showcase it in here. As far as I could remember, I drawn something that supposed to convey a community that encourages everyone to take good care of our nature. I know aced the story telling part. But as for the drawing? Well, let's move forward, shall we? 

Ferdz' natural talent and his advice

Speaking of talent, when Ferdz first introduced his piece of art via his youtube page, I was completely mesmerized by his God given gift. It's a mind blowing clip with a bunch of interesting drawing techniques. The featured vblog in this article wasn't his first video tutorial, but I picked this one first to share some thoughts as this really captures my interest. Reminding me to re-learn my drawing and art skills. 

I listed down the few simple practices of sketching / drawing steps I captured from this video for which it would be best to watch the whole clip to visualize the idea. Embedded on this article is his video tutorials sharing his techniques. 

1. From the same tutorial, Ferdz started to sketch a series of vertical lines with a dark shades to a line with light strokes.

2. This was followed with the instructions to draw lines and curves with light shades to a more darker curves and lines.

3. It advances to telling us to draw circle shapes with a lighter strokes.

4. The next technique he shown from the video was the way we can hold the tip of the pencil. From there, he shown us a changed on the direction of the tip of the pencil while drawing a shades of dark to lighter strokes. On my observations, the inclination of the pencil appears to create shadow like images. 

   Noted on the video is his strong emphasize of getting more practice of the above methods where your hand and wrist gets more familiar with the basic approach on sketching. The tutorials looks easier. In reality for some people it's a bit challenging.

REFLECTIONS

Learning the basic steps before we move into a more complex process is the most important stage. Coupled with a consistent and systemic practices. In addition, it would be a great idea if you can find a mentor who could provide you the proper guidance on doing the right things. Which for sure and I believe, Ferdz is a good pick when choosing a mentor. 

Also, sharing our gift to others is a wonderful opportunity to help others learn the same skills.

Sharing our gift is a very noble deed. This reminds of me of these bible verses which both complement each other.
